New year means new travel opportunities! Here are some of our highest recommended destinations to explore in 2020:
The richest country in the world! Rich in unforgettable experiences, diversity, cultural authenticity, nature, and food. Machu Picchu’s Historic Sanctuary, the Inca Citadel, is considered one of the seven New Wonders of the World. Nasca Lines, mysterious figures drawn in the desert between 550 and 650 AD. Cusco City, with colossal architecture built by the Incas. This and so much more.
Cuba is still a must-experience destination that can become a reality through the Support for the Cuban People Program. A Caribbean island known for stunning white-sand beaches, mountain terrain, strong cigars, and rum. Havana has Spanish architecture dating back to the 16th century. But be aware, Cuba is NOT on a par with other tourist destinations. You experience Cuba through the people, food, heritage, and culture of their island history. Don’t miss the Copa Cabana show at the famed Tropicana!
Truly a tale of two cities, and each one unique in its own way. London is proper and posh with Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Parliament, the Tower, and the Thames. Afternoon tea, umbrellas, and shopping at Harrods. Paris is boozy and flirty with gardens, sidewalk bistros, the Eiffel Tower, and cruising along the Seine. Both are worthy of a visit, or two!
When in Rome, pair it with Florence and Venice for an Italian feast for the eyes. So many treasures in the big city, St. Peter’s Square, the Vatican, Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum. Take the train to Florence for a smaller, quieter, experience with famous museums, lovely restaurants, and easy strolling, and the gateway to the Tuscan hills. Then travel to Venice for a spectacular watery wonderland.
While this isn’t a specific location, it is still list worthy. River cruising is a much more intimate cruise experience. Small capacity, calm waters, excellent food, local entertainment, and amazing picturesque towns. A great way to really get to know a region up close and personal. Your first cruise won’t be your last!
Tulips in the spring, ice skating in winter, windmills, wooden shoes, and bicycles – lots of bicycles! If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, add canals, Delft Blue tiles, and cheese. In Amsterdam see Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and visit the Anne Frank House. Rotterdam for architecture and big ships. The Hague, seat of government, and fresh fish from the North Sea.
Sometimes a cruise can be a destination in itself. Why would you ever want to leave? The staff caters to your every whim, you can have anything you want to eat, and plenty of it. You can have sun and fun, or soothing quiet – both in the same day. Beautiful ports to explore and idle days at sea to relax and make new friends while enjoying all the ship has to offer.
Buda and Pest, two cities that combined make a great destination. Walk across Chain Bridge, the first bridge to link the two cities, take a walking tour, cruise the Danube. Enjoy art and architecture, see the Hungarian Crown Jewels, stroll the streets of the city, often called the “Paris of the East”. Indulge in a healthful thermal bath. And don’t pass up that wonderful, authentic, and rich Hungarian food!
The magical temple city of Angkor Wat – Seventh Wonder of the World. Ecotourism and adventures with rescued elephants. Tropical islands, rice paddies, swaying palms, majestic mountains, and the mighty Mekong River. Dazzling cities, like Phnom Penh, with world class dining. But nothing is more infectious than the warm, unforgettable, hospitality of the smiling Cambodian people.
Experience the neon glow and 24-hour excitement of Tokyo. Take the bullet train to the imperial temples and shrines of Kyoto. Wander freely with 1,000 deer at Nara and be amazed at the world’s largest bronze Buddha. Enjoy the natural hot springs in Hakone and, if the sky is clear, view awe inspiring Mt. Fuji in the distance.
We can help customize the perfect vacation for you whether it is to one of our Top 10 spots or not. There are so many beautiful places in the world, make sure you get out and see a few in 2020!
